TYPOETRY : Newham walking tour poetry
June 19th 2022

A resonant and brilliant event celebrating the remarkable TYPOETRY project with 9 of the 30 exhibited poets performing on the streets of Newham, starting at Upton Park and ending in East Ham Central Park Cafe. Led by David Beck, Julie Zeller and SJ Fowler, a generous crowd trailed a route through the bustling sunday afternoon of Newham’s streets, stopping at the poems of Typoetry, artfully designed into the environment, and witnessing seven performances, adapting to the unique character of the borough.

With Hartmut Abendschein, Heike Fiedler, Rushika Wick, Vanessa Onwuemezi, Kayona Daley and Stephen Watts. Curated by Steven J Fowler, Project Management: David Kilian Beck and Julie Zeller, Embassy of Switzerland UK

Typoetry is a showcase of poetry and Swiss graphic design taking place in the London Borough of Newham from 20 May to 17 July 2022. Around thirty works by poets from Switzerland, the UK and Newham are brought to life through designs by the typography students of the ECAL/University of Art and Design of Lausanne and displayed on the front windows of businesses and public buildings across Newham.

Curated by David Beck, Julie Zeller and SJ Fowler.
